General Worker

Job Overview

We are looking for a reliable and physically fit General Worker to support the Mechanical Department with general labour, site preparation, and equipment handling duties. This role is ideal for someone with a strong work ethic and an interest in mechanical, maintenance, or workshop environments, who is willing to learn and work under the guidance of qualified technicians.

Responsibilities

• Prepare work areas for project maintenance and site work, including cleaning and organizing tools
• Maintain safe and tidy workspaces across all project sites
• Load and offload project materials, equipment, and tools safely
• Move and store equipment and materials to prevent damage, loss, or safety hazards
• Assist project technicians and supervisors by holding tools and preparing materials
• Support equipment setup and basic project maintenance activities under supervision
• Follow all company safety procedures, client site rules, and the Occupational Health and Safety Act
• Ensure correct use of PPE and immediately report unsafe conditions or hazards
• Assist with basic project maintenance tasks such as cleaning equipment and lubrication
• Support inspections, repairs, and the moving of components under the supervision of qualified technicians

Requirements

• Minimum Grade 12 (Matric).
• N3 Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Fitting and Turning, Boilermaking, Millwright, or a related certificate (advantageous).
• Basic exposure or interest in mechanical work environments, maintenance, construction, or engineering sites
• 1–3 years’ experience in general labour, maintenance, or workshop support, construction or mechanical environments (advantageous)
• Basic understanding of mechanical tools and equipment, and workshop or site safety practices
• Physically fit and able to perform manual labour and work in various site conditions (indoor/outdoor)
• Required to undergo and pass a Physical Fitness Test
• Basic technical or trade-related training (advantageous)
