Job Overview

The Control and Instrumentation Technician is responsible for the installation, programming, calibration and maintenance of control and instrumentation equipment, including control valves, panel wiring and PLC systems supporting SCADA operations.

Reporting to the Control and Instrumentation Engineer / Project Manager, the successful candidate will plan and execute instrumentation and control work to specification, on time and within scope, and will provide PLC programming support across projects.

Responsibilities

  • Install, program and troubleshoot instruments.
  • Program PLCs and support SCADA system configuration.
  • Carry out wiring of control panels.
  • Configure instruments to specification.
  • Check and configure motor panel drivers.
  • Collaborate with the electrical team on installation and maintenance tasks.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and advancements to implement best practices
  • Document all work performed and maintain accurate, auditable records.

Requirements

  • N6 or National Diploma in Electronic or Electrical Engineering.
  • Trade Test Certificate in Control, Instrumentation or Electrical.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience post trade test.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience programming PLCs.

Skills

Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical, instrumentation and P&ID drawings, Competent in PLC programming and SCADA system configuration, Experienced in panel wiring, instrument calibration and configuration, Computer literate in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook) for reporting and documentation.
