Junior Control Technician

Job Overview
The Junior Control Technician provides hands-on support to the Control and Instrumentation team, assisting with the installation, wiring, calibration and basic maintenance of control valves, instruments and panel wiring on plant and process equipment.
Reporting to the Control and Instrumentation Engineer / Site Supervisor, the successful candidate will carry out day-to-day installation, wiring and configuration tasks under supervision, while developing the practical skills and experience required to progress within the control and instrumentation discipline.
Responsibilities
- Install, program and troubleshoot instruments under supervision.
- Assist with the replacement of old instruments and installation of new control valves.
- Carry out wiring of control panels.
- Configure instruments to specification.
- Check and configure motor panel drivers.
- Collaborate with the electrical team on installation and maintenance tasks.
- Assist with routine maintenance of SCADA and PLC systems.
- Stay updated on industry trends and advancements to implement best practices.
- Document all work performed and maintain accurate, auditable records.
Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric).
- N3 in Electronic or Electrical Engineering.
- Trade Test Certificate in Control, Instrumentation or Electrical.
- Minimum 3 years' experience post trade test.
Skills
Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical and instrumentation drawings, Competent in panel wiring and instrument installation, Basic working knowledge of SCADA and PLC systems, Computer literate in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook) for reporting and documentation, Effective communication and interpersonal skills, Strong team player, Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Skills
